This is an image of the completed Map of Golden Gate Park; a participatory map making project made during my one month residency at the de Young Museum. It represents the park itself and the surrounding blocks, and is made from the bits of paper trash and other ephemera that visitors to the gallery happened to have in their pockets or bags when they visited the gallery space. The materials themselves reveal a lot about the habits of the visitors, not just their spending habits (receipts), their eating habits (food wrappers), but also their travel and leisure choices (materials from all over the world, other ticket stubs, etc.)
