Residency at the Orto Botanico di Palermo
One of the plants that grows really large in the gardens here is the Giant Bamboo Dendrocalamus Asper, a huge, tropical, clumping species of bamboo native to Southeast Asia. Its large stalks grow to be 15–20 meters tall, and 8–12 cm in diameter, and therefore useful as a building material. Its extra large leaves cover the ground outside my studio building and I've been experimenting with how to use them.
