Artwork > SF New City Atlas: Art on Market Street Poster Series

SF New City Atlas is a series of images I created for the San Francisco Art Commissions Art on Market Street Poster Series. The images will be shown as posters, installed in the bus kiosks along Market Street, April 2016.

Project Description
Lauren Bartone creates images that borrow from topography, city life, and materials of the everyday. Her poster series is inspired by the public life of Market Street in San Francisco; both real and utopic. Over several months in 2015, Bartone collected detritus from Market Street and its surrounds. Transforming the materials of everyday life, the artist has created interpretive maps that explore a selection of issues tied to social experiences in the city: the workplace, transportation, public spaces, cultural life, our desires, and social needs.
